Saturday Swap: Dry Shampoo


I use dry shampoo all the time, it’s one of my most used products. For somthing that I’m using all the time I want to it to be at lease somewhat healthy.
Common dry shampoos including but not limited to L’Oreal, TRESemme, Dove, Suave, John Frieda, Bed Head and American Crew pose cancer risks and allergy irritants.

A much healthier option is homemade dry shampoo. It’s very easy to make, actually I don’t even “make” it I just use plain cornstarch and it works great! But if you have dark hair you can add coloring to it so it doesn’t leave your hair looking gray. You can also add essential oils to boost the healthy benefits too!!

This is a recipe to begin with.

1/4 c corn starch

1 T cinnamon or cocoa powder for brunettes, activated charcoal powder for black hair or to add extra darkness or brunettes.

5-10 drops Lavender, Rosemary, Lemon, Geranium or Ylang Ylang essential oils.
How to apply: Once you have mixed all the ingredients together really well put it in a drainage container (a mason jar works well). Use a powder makeup brush to apply it evenly over your roots wherever your hair is greasy. Let it sit to 30 minutes for best results then brush out thoroughly with a boar bristle brush.

(Tip: I love to work a lot in before I got to bed, then in the morning I wake up toclean fresh hair!)
