What’s Missing from Your Skincare Routine

I have been battling acne off and on for a while now. One of the best things that have helped with my acne is, drum roll please…The oil cleansing method. “Great” you think, “I get to cleanse my face of oil, right”? Nope, you cleanse your face with oil!

The idea is “like dissolves like”. It is true that oil has the an amazing ability to get into your pores very easily, and if that same oil is “contaminated” with bad or “pathogenic” bacteria that causes infection, it results in acne. But if clean, pure oil is used on the face, it doesn’t clog pores, it cleans them.

Common Face washes, toners and cleaners hurt the skin by drying it out.

These products strip the oil out of our skin, leaving our largest organ trying to repair itself by replacing the oil stripped away. This leaves us in a cycle of being tight and dry followed by the inevitable oil slick. Each time we strip the oil away, our skin over-compensates for the lack of moisture by creating more oil. Oil cleansing on the other hand, nourishes, moisturizes and cleanses you skin all in one step. My favorite oil has been coconut oil and with it’s anti bacterial properties it is killing the bad bacteria while healing your face and giving you a radiant glow.

This is how you do it: take a 1/2 teaspoon and place it on a cotton ball/cotton round or tissue, rub it all over your face and repeat if as many times you feel is necessary till your skin feels clean! If you do this every day it will probably only take once. If you wear a lot f makeup it could take quite a few times, (Yes, this is the perfect makeup remover)!

The best thing about oil cleansing is that it is all your old products in one! the benefits entail…

  • removes makeup
  • cleanses
  • tones
  • moisturizes
  • repairs
  • (I also love the fact that I don’t have to wash my face in cold water every night!)

Have fun trying this out!
